A Happy Mother’s Day Note

My Mother’s day note to my Mom, a woman who has done everything she could since the day I was born to make my life better.

Mom,

Thirty Seven Years and a few months ago, when I became me, I was given a gift that each and everyday is the most valuable one I have. A mother whose love, lessons, and consistency provided me with the guidance to grow, and the motivation to be better for myself and those around me. I am proud of the person that I am and I know that it is largely because of you. Each of my successes in life, big and small, have a root in your tutoring, prodding, example, aiding, and love. I have not had the chance to stand at a podium and deliver a hollywood award acceptance speech, if I did your thank you would be the longest.

I look forward to all the days I will share with you as a son, friend, and partner in the coming years. I have some growing to do to become the person I want to be, but luckily in you I have a model in my life to try to measure myself up to. I want more of the time we spend together carefree, it is far too little and I cherish those moments where you don’t have to be the motivator, organizer, and driving force behind us getting done the mountain that we do on a regular basis. In those moments I see an Eileen that dazzles me.

It took me 36 years to find a woman that could compare to you, and I spent much time pondering what I should do if I never did until I met Megan. I feel so fortunate to have her in my life, and I owe much of that to you. Had I not had you as a model for a wife and a mother I may have settled for so much less happiness, avoiding that is a immense gift in itself. In so many ways my life is better because of you, from Megan’s presence to Petra’s vibrance, thank you for enriching my life.

I hope I am a source of happiness for others that I love the way you are for me.

I love you with all my heart. -Spiro

Thanks Mom!
