Providence Visit Tips

Providence Rhode Island is about an hour drive south of Boston, here are the Providence Tips I assembled after a recent overnight trip there.

Providence Tips From My Trip:

Hotel: The Hotel Providence – WEB – A very nice modern hotel, free wifi, large clean room with great amenities. Located with walking distance to many nice restaurants and bars it is situated well for a stay in Providence.

Fine Modern Dining: Cafe Nuovo – WEB– Canal side dining inside and outside, exemplary service and food. Absolutely get the Tuna Sashimi appetizer if they have it when you are there, every one of our dishes was done immaculately. Ask for Caitriona for your server if she is working and be sure to tell her you read this. She is very good at suggesting places for you to find what you are looking for. A few of these tips were from her for sure.

Live Music Venue: Local 121 – WEB – A former speakeasy that is now a restaurant which turns into a trendy live music venue after dinner. The downstairs often features live bands and the upstairs a DJ so if you are looking for a place like that check Local 121 out.

Local/Dive Bar with Food: Murphy’s – WEB – Looking for a chill place with a bunch of people having fun, not into a club scene? Murphy’s might fit the bill, a local hangout popular with the restaurant employees getting off their shifts, this place was packed the night I went and the food looked like it was made with care. Deli sandwiches made the right way.

Martini Lounge: Tazza – WEB – A sleek lounge atmosphere filled with the hospitality of a great bartender made this a great spot to stop in and have one last cocktail for the evening. We did not try any food, so I have no advice for eating here.

Brunch: Nick’s on Broadway – WEB – Absolutely an amazing experience we had sitting at the counter watching the kitchen right in front of us. The food was amazing and I would recommend this to anyone, anytime, anywhere. The best brunch experience I have ever had. Period.

Providence Tips from Twitter

Often times I ask twitter for help when I am visiting an area and I get great tips from the people who see my tweets, here are some of the best:

How did Meg let you post that picture?  More saturation and toning is needed.
