Quiet Facebook Change to Notice

If you are friends with me on facebook (HERE) you may have seen me post the following:

HAVE YOU NOTICED LATELY THAT YOU ARE ONLY SEEING UPDATES OR GETTING COMMENTS FROM THE SAME PEOPLE LATELY? Facebook made a change. You only see posts from people you interact with โ€œregularly!โ€ To change this, Scroll down to the bottom of the โ€˜newsfeedโ€™ homepage and click on โ€œEdit Options.โ€ Click on โ€œShow Posts Fromโ€ and change the setting to โ€œAll Of Your Friends and Pagesโ€ *REPOST THIS*

Then again if you and I don’t interact you probably didn’t. Since you run a facebook page for a business, brand, or some other entity that requires eyeballs on its marketing efforts this change is something you should pay attention to. I suggest you repost this as the more public this change gets the more people will change their setting and the more your messages will reach eyeballs.

Facebook did not announce it, and the majority of people don’t even know it changed. Why? I am not sure what their motivation was but its gonna trip up some non-engaged marketing efforts on Facebook. Even more reason to interact with as many people as you can on facebook, and keep your updates flowing through their streams.

This is an unfortunate change. It’s gonna be really hard to get people to go in and change this on their own. I think some people might get confused and think its a good thing. Hopefully facebook changes the default setting back to “all friends” at some point. I don’t understand what was wrong with just managing your newsfeed manually by hiding friends you don’t want to see on a case by case basis. I know that there alot of friends on my list that I have never commented on but I still like to see what they have to say from time to time. If I dont care what they have to say or dont like what they have to say, I hide them from newsfeed, simple as that. The last thing I want to do is start posting obligatory comments on friend’s statuses just so facebook thinks we are important enough to each other to remain newsfeed worthy friends.

Oh well, I will try to get the word out on this. Thanks for the heads up.

I couldn’t agree more David, they should be focused on something more important, like say getting pictures to load in less than 20 seconds!

Seriously, what is up with that? Aren’t pictures one of the main pillars of “FACE”book? Why launch a new photo app when it so obviously doesnt work and makes one of your biggest features almost useless.

Not finding “Edit Options” on the bottom of my page?
Please help. I really appreciate it!

If you click on the home tab at the top left of your profile, bringing up
your home feed of activity from all your friends, and scroll to the bottom
there is a grey box that says ‘older posts’ on the left hand side. If the
right side of that box does not say ‘edit options’ scroll down again and it
will say ‘edit options’ the next time. From there you just click on that and
      select the setting you choose.

Good luck and let me know if you are still having trouble.

I definitely have noticed this – it’s good in a way, if you use facebook for only personal use. For business, you definitely better have a page. At least the new polls look like a promising way of getting more viral exposure for your pages

I think the message is: engage your following or be invisible.

definitely. another cool feature I’ve noticed is the ability to post on other pages, as your page’s name – that’s actually useful

Love the cartoon. Who did it? Is it copyrighted? How would I go about asking to use it? Thanks for any info. Also, thanks for heads-up. Set my info already.

I just thought they were never posting! Now I’m wondering why FB believes I am particularly interested in hearing from some of the people who populate my feed…
